This blog began as an extension of the Academia Nomad Facebook page. It all started in 2019, when PNG’s prime minister position changed from Peter O’Neill to James Marape. The initial idea was to provide analysis of PNG politics to those who were trying to understand MP behaviours. But soon after, Solomon Islands switch diplomatic recognition from Taiwan to China. Since then, geopolitical rivalry in the region has intensified. This blog evolved from providing PNG-focused content to regional. It is provocative on purpose – intended to stimulate discussions.
